This fall-winter female outerwear collection started from the concept of “uniform”. Clothing has played a key role in the distinction of genders throughout history. With this in mind, my project finds the synthesis of its creative process in the pun of the title. I set out to create a collection based on the fusion of male/female archetypes. Classic menswear fabrics were selected to represent the male gender, while the female gender is represented by various manipulations of this fabric. The woman conquers her uniform by stealing it from the man, and making it her own.
“Vain trifles as they seem, clothes have, they say, more important offices than to merely keep us warm. They change our view of the world and the world’s view of us.”
Orlando, Virginia Woolf
